Chief Operating Officer, New York
Rhett D. Thurman, Chief Operating Officer /CFO is a Managing Director and member of the Firm's Executive Committee, as well as its FINOP. Based in New York, Mr. Thurman is responsible for all administrative and risk management functions, including finance, risk management, legal/compliance, IT, and human resources. He brings to the Firm nearly four decades of leadership and senior operating management experience in investment banking, private equity, and healthcare services.
Before joining Prager, Mr. Thurman served for 17 years as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and a member of the board of directors at Cain Brothers & Company, LLC ("Cain"), a leading boutique investment bank focusing exclusively on the healthcare sector; he held corresponding executive roles with Cain's asset management, real estate brokerage and mortgage banking affiliates . Rhett chaired Cain's commitment committee and was a member of the general partner and investment committee of CB Executive Co-Investment Fund, LP, a private equity affiliate. Cain was acquired by KeyBanc Capital Markets in October 2017.
Mr. Thurman's prior experience also includes co-founder and general partner of Health Enterprise Partners, a healthcare private equity fund, and chief financial officer at MacNeal Health Network/Vanguard Health Systems.
Mr. Thurman received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Economics from The Ohio State University, where he serves as a member of the advisory board of the College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Economics. In addition, he holds the FINRA Series 27 (Financial and Operations Principal), Series 99 (Operations Professional), Series 52 (Municipal Securities Representative), Series 79 (Investment Banking Representative), and Series 7 (General Securities Representative) licenses.
