Craig Bettencourt

Craig Bettencourt is a Managing Director with Prager & Co., LLC and brings over 30 years of public and private debt finance experience and over 7 years of experience as a private developer.

Mr. Bettencourt is responsible for new business and assisting borrowers in both the private and public sectors throughout California. He has assisted numerous California communities with the successful design and execution of financings, including over $350 Million in Mello-Roos, $100 Million in assessment district financings, and more than $425 Million in infrastructure financings for such diverse entities as the California School Finance Authority, regional park districts, utility districts, transportation agencies and several cities and counties. He also assisted the State of California as a co-manager for three years with the multi-billion-dollar State Tax and Revenue Anticipation Note program. Mr. Bettencourt has purchased and/or participated in the purchase and entitlement of over $250 million in residential and mixed-use land projects in Northern California for notable United States domestic builder/developers.

Mr. Bettencourt served as a strategic consultant to the City of San Bruno along with a small team of additional consultants that guided the City through legal, regulatory and crises management issues related to a PG&E gas pipeline explosion and fire that killed eight people, injured 58 others and destroyed or damaged 90 homes in 2010. He was a key member of the City's negotiating team that obtained a $70 million settlement from PG&E that will fund a City foundation. The team also negotiated an additional $50 million from PG&E to pay expenses for the physical damage from the blast.

Craig's previous experience includes more than 5 years on the Sales and Trading desks at Drexel Burnham and Prudential-Bache Securities as a Government Securities Broker. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy and is a FINRA registered securities and municipal representative and registered Municipal Advisor.
