Prager & Co., LLC is an investment banking firm with offices in San Francisco and New York City. The Firm's core focus is public finance, providing financial advisory services to nonprofit and governmental borrowers. Prager's clients include colleges, universities, healthcare organizations, cultural institutions, social service agencies, and state and local governments. We employ approximately 25 people who are engaged in public finance investment banking, underwriting, and municipal sales and trading.
We are seeking a dedicated, hard-working individual to join our New York Banking team. The ideal candidate will possess at least two years of post-graduate work experience in a related field and a strong interest in public finance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES: As members of the investment banking team, analysts provide support and assistance to the firm's financial advisory and underwriting practice. While the ideal candidate will demonstrate a solid foundation relative to the responsibilities below, Prager is committed to cultivating talent by providing public finance specific training for its analytical staff.
Support origination, coordination, and execution of investment banking & financial advisory engagements;
Conduct credit analysis;
Develop rating agency presentations;
Research and prepare complex financial analyses and models;
Maintain client data bases and records;
Conduct due diligence investigations;
Prepare detailed transaction memoranda and presentations;
Research and evaluate alternative security packages and funding plans;
Understand the fundamentals of how offerings are structured, marketed, priced and concluded;
Attend and participate in client meetings;
Research potential buyers/investors and follow market trends;
Collect relevant market news/data and compose weekly email updates;
Assist in the development of new business.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED BACKGROUND:
Two years of post-graduate work experience in a related field;
Four-year college degree; prefer a focus in Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics or other quantitative fields;
Exemplary academic record, especially in finance and accounting related courses;
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills including use of spreadsheet and database software for quantitative analysis;
Strong MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills;
Exceptional data management and research skills;
Excellent problem solving and analytic ability;
Ability to complete assignments independently and on a timely basis;
Ability to work as part of a team to accomplish broader goals and objectives;
Advanced oral and written communications skills;
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities;
Willingness to work after hours, when necessary, to accomplish work assignments;
Strong work ethic and attention to detail;
FINRA Series 52, 7 and 63, 50 license required within 120 days.
